Solar PV is an excellent solution for many homes, but it isn't the right choice for every property. During your free assessment, we'll evaluate the key factors, explain your options clearly and tell you honestly if solar isn't the best fit.
Roof orientation and pitch
South facing roofs with a suitable pitch typically achieve the highest generation, but East & West facing roofs can still perform very well. We assess your specific property rather than relying on assumptions.
Shading
Trees, chimneys, neighbouring buildings & dormer windows can all affect system performance. We assess shading carefully during your site visit to understand its impact.
Roof condition and size
Your roof needs to be suitable for solar, with enough available space & a condition that supports a long term installation & current regulations.
Your energy use
Understanding how & when you use electricity helps us design a system that works around your lifestyle & maximises the value of your generation.
Your tariff
Smart export tariffs, time-of-use tariffs and the SEG (Smart Export Guarantee) all affect the financial picture.
Future plans
Future plans such as an EV charger, heat pump or extension can influence the best system design. We discuss these from the beginning so your system can be planned with the future in mind.
On savings: We understand that payback is an important part of deciding whether solar is right for your home. We won't promise a guaranteed payback period or specific bill reduction, as these depend on factors outside our control, including your energy usage, tariffs, export rates and future energy prices. What we can do is provide a realistic estimate based on your individual circumstances, explain the assumptions behind it and show you how to get the most value from your system.

Thinking about battery storage too?
Battery storage allows you to use more of the electricity your panels generate, while also giving you the flexibility to benefit from smart and time of use tariffs. It's often worth considering alongside solar from the beginning.
Residential solar questions
- Most residential solar installations take one to two days. Battery storage added alongside solar is usually the same visit. Retrofitting battery storage to an existing system is typically a single day. Commercial projects vary depending on the system size and site. We'll always give you a realistic timeline before any work begins.
- We check this during the site assessment. If your roof has any issues — loose tiles, felt that needs attention, or structural concerns — we'll tell you clearly and won't install until it's suitable. You shouldn't need to have your roof replaced simply to have solar fitted, but we won't cut corners on safety.
